eXp skips the chatbot and lets agents bring their own AI into its back office

Original headline: “eXp rolls out MCP First AI of Choice strategy for agents” — HousingWire, Oct 8, 2026

eXp Realty unveiled an "MCP First, AI of Choice" strategy on October 8 — instead of shipping its own chatbot, the brokerage is opening a standardized connection layer so agents can plug the AI assistant they already use (Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini) straight into their eXp business data, including production numbers, leads, transactions, training progress, and CRM records. Agents authorize each connection themselves, and eXp says tech partners including Canva — and soon Lofty and BoldTrail — are building MCP servers so their tools plug into the same system; a prompt library covers questions like production over the last 12 months or how far an agent is from capping.

Our take (opinion & analysis, not reporting)

This is the "bring your own AI" model — if it catches on, the moat moves from which chatbot you use to how well your CRM and back office expose data to the assistant you already live in. When you compare CRMs, an open AI connection (MCP or API) is becoming a feature worth asking about.
